The evolution of graphic adventure games

How could virtual reality systems transform the genre of graphic adventure games?

Game Design

▾ Video…

Adventure games were among the most popular types of video games back in the 1990s. But nowadays, it seems as if the genre is a bit “lost”, having been outclassed by much better designed games. Rather than offering the player the same classic game experience by focusing on the old-fashioned gameplay style, this work provides a new design vision for interaction in graphic adventure games. The aim of this Master’s project is to change the way adventure games are played, especially by significantly increasing the immersive experience. To achieve this, virtual reality headsets are used in combination with motion-based controllers, which track the position and rotation of the players’ hands.
