twoBytes – A playful introduction to programming logic and basic concepts
How can primary school pupils be inspired through ITC lessons to better succeed in a digital future?
Interaction Design
Primary schools tend to cover information technology merely by teaching pupils to use consumer programs such as Word or Excel. However, even simple programming logic and vocabulary, or the basics of systems theory, are not covered – although they form the basis for all applications and are essential skills for navigating the digital future. For my Master’s project, I have designed a board game that teaches primary school pupils simple programming, as well as the basics of computer vocabulary and the concepts of Bits and Bytes. The game aims to encourage children’s interest in computers, and to lay the foundation for later learning.
